NFYI Volunteer Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in working with the National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI). NFYI was founded in 2012 by the Honorable Karen Bass Karen Bass. NFYI was launched with a vision of transforming the child welfare system through lifting up the voices of young people and families with lived experience in foster care. NFYI empowers foster youth, their families, and communities to use their lived experiences to bring about systemic policy changes in the child welfare system nationwide. We have a vision for the child welfare system to be transformed into a community of support centered on child well-being and lived experiences.

If you are interested in becoming an NFYI participant, joining our movement and participating in NFYI activities please fill out this member form. To be a member you must:
  1. Be aged 18-30;
  2. Have lived experience of foster care;
  3. Be passionate about advocating to transform the child welfare system.
All NFYI membership questions should be directed to NFYI National Conference and Programs Manager Blade Oestreich at blade.oestreich@nfyi.org.

Interested in assisting NFYI as a non-member (individuals who are not between the ages of 18-30)? We are always looking for volunteers and organizations who would like to assist us in amplifying and uplifting the voices of current and former foster youth around the country.

Please fill out this interest form and an NFYI representative will get back to you in a timely manner on potential ways to assist.
