Yin Qiao Zhang

My name is Yin Qiao, and I am a Cognitive Science student at the University of Southern California with a strong focus on mental health advocacy. My academic and advocacy work are deeply connected to my lived experiences. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges families face within the child welfare system and the detrimental effects that unaddressed mental health struggles can have on children, caregivers, and entire communities.

These experiences inspire my work today as a Youth Advisory Council member with the Children’s Law Center of California and as an intern with the National Youth Council with the mental health department. In these roles, I advocate for stronger mental health support, more responsive social work practices, and policies that prioritize the well-being of children and families.

As a delegate, I am eager to continue learning from others, exchanging ideas, and contributing to discussions that uplift youth voices and promote meaningful change in child advocacy and mental health.
