Skylar is from Bowling Green, Ky and is passionate about advocating for foster youth,
human trafficking prevention, and mental health. She dedicates her time as a licensing
specialist at a foster care agency, where she offers foster parent training, recruits, and goes through a SAFE home process to open new homes. She enjoys connecting with some of the youth in the foster care independent living program at her agency by offering guidance from her own lived experiences.

Skylar believes that “everyone deserves someone who cares”, and channels their passion into action through NFYI by focusing on improving foster care policies involving extended commitment aged youth.

Beyond their advocacy work, Skylar enjoys reading, listening to music, and going to different events.

Through the Congressional Leadership Academy, they hope to gain greater leadership skills, communication skills, and networking opportunities, and apply them to her everyday job and advocacy work.
