Mia began her advocacy in 2022 when she was hired as a peer advisor for the REACH foster youth program at Mt. San Antonio College. The 25-year-old grew up in Pico Rivera, Calif. Through the Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day program, she is hoping to gain connections with former foster youth communities and knowledge on how we can reinforce change where it is needed so that actual progress can be made for future generations. She is excited to learn in general, because she believes knowledge is real currency. One fun fact about her is that her name translates to “mine” in English.
