Mansoora Ameri

California Delegate

I am Mansoora Ameri, and I am based in San Diego, California. I am a passionate advocate for foster youth, immigrant communities, and equitable access to education. Originally from Afghanistan, my personal journey of migration has shaped my commitment to empowering young people, especially those who have faced displacement or foster care. I dedicate my time to mentoring students, supporting college programs, and working towards systemic change.

Through my work with the National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI), I focus on improving opportunities and support systems for youth who have experienced foster care and displacement. My advocacy stems from my own experiences, where resilience, community, and education played crucial roles in my transition to a new life in the United States.

As a Project Analyst at Miramar College with the NextUp program, I help empower foster youth by providing critical resources and support, guiding them through their college journeys. I also volunteer for community-based events and with elementary school children, creating learning environments where every child feels supported and valued.

I’m deeply committed to amplifying youth voices and advocating for systems that promoteopportunity and belonging. Through the Congressional Leadership Academy, I aim to strengthen my leadership, policy, and advocacy skills to further support marginalized communities, especially foster youth and immigrants.

With a vision for a future where every young person can thrive, I am dedicated to creating lasting change and ensuring youth have the tools they need to shape their own futures.
