Jessica Rose is a youth advocate, writer, and community leader based in Los Angeles who is passionate about improving the foster care system. As a former foster youth, she uses her lived experience — including homelessness, a failed adoption, and involvement with the juvenile justice system — to guide her work and push for stronger accountability and support for young people.

She currently serves as a Los Angeles Youth Commissioner and is pursuing her Bachelor’s of Social Work to continue building a career focused on advocacy and direct service. With over 12 years of experience in youth advocacy, Jessica has mentored others, spoken out about foster care reform, and worked to make sure young people’s voices are heard in the spaces where decisions are made.

Jessica also writes for Fostering Media Connections and is the author of her memoir Trash Bag of Memories, in which she shares her personal journey through foster care and resilience.

At the heart of everything she does is one goal: turning lived experience into leadership and helping create systems where all youth feel safe, supported, and empowered.
