Washington Delegate

Ericka Mickelson

Ericka first got involved in foster care advocacy because she wanted to use her experiences in the system to help others and make improvements. She is passionate about juvenile justice reform as well as equal benefits and resources within the child welfare system.

Ericka is currently working on her A.A. degree at Bellevue College in Washington and will graduate in the Fall. Ericka is currently an FYI (Foster Youth to Independence) Youth Ambassador with the Seattle Housing Authority and, after graduation, plans to earn her B.A. degree in Social Work and pursue a career that allows her to help others and have a real impact.

Outside of school, work, and advocacy, Ericka makes art a priority in her life—she loves to paint, draw, and take photographs. Her photography has been featured in The New York Times.
