Cameron Lewis is from Chicago, Illinois, and is currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is passionate about advocating for foster youth, expanding access to competent and comprehensive mental health care for youth in foster care and their families, and advancing child welfare policy at the legislative level. Cameron dedicates his time to being a full-time student at Arizona State University, providing case management and therapeutic intervention services for foster youth in Arizona, and serving as a Constituent Engagement Intern for the Arizona Office of the Governor.

Cameron believes that those who have experienced the foster care system should play a role in improving it for the youth navigating it today. He channels his passion into action through NFYI by advancing child welfare policies that strengthen support systems and long-term outcomes for youth currently in foster care. Outside of NFYI, he remains engaged in community advocacy efforts that support youth development, mental health access, and opportunities for young people impacted by the foster care system.

Beyond his advocacy work, Cameron enjoys traveling, spending time with his animals at home, and exploring nature. Through the Congressional Leadership Academy, he hopes to gain the skills and networks necessary to influence child welfare policy at the state and federal levels and apply them to advancing reforms that improve outcomes for youth currently in foster care.
