Mehaa Martin is a former foster youth, justice-impacted individual, single mother, and advocate with over 10 years of experience supporting underserved communities. She has worked in human services, mentorship, community outreach, and policy advocacy, focusing on foster youth, justice-involved individuals, and those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use.

In March 2024, Mehaa shared the stage in a one-on-one fireside chat with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to discuss issues impacting the foster youth community locally and nationally. She is a 2024 Congressional Leadership Academy alumna and participated in NFYI’s Shadow Day in Washington, D.C., where she built connections with Members of Congress to advocate for federal policy change. In 2025, she served as a panelist for NFYI’s Uplifting Lived Experience to Address the Impact of ACEs seminar, addressing housing, mental health, justice, parenting/family prevention, and substance use for current and former foster youth.

Mehaa has held roles as a Career Services Specialist, Housing Coordinator, Life Skills Coach, IP Job Coach, and Infant-Toddler Teacher, and has been an active member of the Los Angeles Black Workers Center, the Anti-Recidivism Coalition Prison Education Project, and the California Youth Connection. She earned recognition as Student of Distinction at Mt. SAC, holds two associate degrees, and is pursuing a BA in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work at Cal Poly Pomona. Her professional goals include improving foster care programs and creating transitional living opportunities that empower youth to thrive.
