Isis Rivera-Chisolm is from Woodbridge, Virginia and is passionate about education access, self care for foster youth, and voter knowledge. They dedicate their time to being the treasurer of a Youth Advisory Board called SPEAKOUT, where she works both behind the scenes and hands on with current and former foster youth finding ways to make sure they have an exciting future. She also works with local homeless shelters to collect donations from the community to provide at the shelter. Just recently, Isis hosted a blanket donation drive and collected over a 100 blankets! Outside of this work she is currently going to school to obtain a paralegal certification and after that, she plans to continue the path of heading to law school.

The core belief that “every child deserves to feel safe and happy” is what drives their passion. Isis hopes to channel this passion into action through focusing on policies that give our foster youth more control over their life and those that bring local communities together. Outside of NFYI they work within multiple state organizations helping to provide feedback on how to better our system. 

Isis enjoys doing random hobbies throughout the year, currently taking up gardening and photography. She loves to go on solo dates exploring the surrounding cities as well as hang out with friends and loved ones. Through the Congressional Leadership Academy she hopes to gain strong knowledge on policy building and use that to help bridge the gap for higher education and voter registration. Isis believes that we are all deserving of happiness and lives her life with the goal to show everyone kindness and love everyday.
