Washington Delegate

Angelica Rivas

Angelica lived in nine different homes throughout her seven years in foster care. Her experience made her realize how much the system needed to change and inspired her to become an advocate for child welfare reform. Now, she works to make a positive impact on youth within the system. “I hope someday I can help people who have been in similar situations to realize that anything is possible, even if it seems hard,” said Angelica.

Despite her struggles, Angelica received her high school diploma and is currently working on a B.A. degree from the University of Washington. Choir was a defining class for her throughout middle school and high school, a place where she learned to process her emotions through music. In her spare time, Angelica loves reading, playing video games, roller blading, and salsa dancing.
