California Delegate

Xandra Vaughn

Xandra entered the foster system at age five, where she remained until aging out. Now Xandra manages a Facebook page of resources for foster youth of all ages, assisting them with finding and accessing housing support, educational funds, and mental health services. She hopes to one day turn it into a non-profit organization.

Xandra is currently pursuing a B.A. degree in Social Work with a Minor in Policy. She hopes to extend age cutoffs for mental health and educational services for former foster youth. Xandra says she was only able to attend college because of a foster youth program without age requirements. “If it were not for that program, I would not have graduated, so I want to help others in the same situation as I was in, especially with the foster youth graduation rate being less than 3%,” she said.
