Shi’Ann Taylor is a dedicated advocate and community leader known for her unwavering commitment to supporting foster youth. With nearly half a decade of experience in foster youth advocacy, Shi’Ann has been instrumental in addressing the challenges faced by current and former foster youth. Her efforts include advocating for their rights, teaching emotional regulation, and assisting in securing permanent housing.

In her current role as an intern at the National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI), Shi’Ann focuses on the homeless crisis affecting foster youth transitioning out of care. She works on developing problem-solving strategies to address this critical issue.

Shi’Ann is pursuing an associate degree in science at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, majoring in carpentry. She has utilized her carpentry skills to contribute to community projects, including building shared living spaces to provide safer housing options for youth and the homeless.

Additionally, Shi’Ann serves as a lead abatement technician, working in underserved communities to remove hazardous lead from homes. This work is crucial for improving public health, as lead exposure is known to cause immune deficiencies, brain damage, and behavioral issues in young children.
