Geneva first got engaged in advocacy when she first entered the foster system at the age of 9. The 28-year-old hopes to bring new innovation, and perspective on how to best assist foster youth. From her participation in the Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day program, she is hoping to learn more about policies that impact foster youth. A fun fact about Geneva is that she has a cat named Larry that loves to play fetch. One of her favorite quotes is “let them hate me as long as they fear me.” This quote means alot to Geneva because she believes people hate and fear what they don’t understand. She would rather be disliked by many to help even a few lives that need it the most.
The National Foster Youth Institute is a youth development organization that lifts up foster youth voices to transform the child welfare system.
