Los Angeles Fires & Windstorm Resources

Foster youth and alumni of care may be especially vulnerable to the devastation of the LA fires. With many of our members based in the Los Angeles area, we would like to offer an ongoing list of resources that may provide support and relief.

Two Assistance and Disaster Resource Centers have opened for those affected by the fires. These centers assist with obtaining recovery services and resources and are open from 9 AM-8 PM 7 days a week:

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles
Non-affected YMCAs offer showers, food, water, wifi, charging stations, and essential items. Free childcare is also available with limited space, for youth in grades TK-8th grade. For more information and to sign up, click here and scroll down to the “Free Childcare” tab.

Care Camps
LA County Parks and Recreation offers recreational fun through activities and field trips for those between the ages of 5 and 17. Care Camp days will be running Monday-Friday until January 31st. Click here for information about available locations and registration details.

Mutual Aid LA
The link above will take you to an ongoing list of resources compiled by Mutual Aid LA. You’ll find information on free meals, essential items, shelter, wifi and phone charging stations, animal boarding, etc. Make sure to click through to Mutual Aid’s Instagram or website for up-to-date information about the resource availability.
