Nevada Delegate

Fia Ewers

Born and raised in the biggest little city, Reno, Nevada, Fia Ewers is currently in her senior year of college, graduating in May 2025 with a Bachelor’s of Social Work. She will continue her education in the Master’s of Social Work Program at the University of Nevada, Reno in August 2025. Fia is currently serving as the Peer and Community Educator for the NSHE Fostering Success Initiative, serving the 7 higher education institutions in Nevada that support students who have experienced foster care. In this role, she has co-facilitated and co-planned two statewide retreats, presented at conferences focused on supporting students who have experienced foster care, and developed a resource guide focused on supporting students with foster care histories who have learning challenges, disabilities, and/or medical conditions. Additionally, she serves as a peer mentor for the UNR First Generation Student Center, providing mentorship to freshmen/sophomore first generation college students.

As an advocacy-minded individual with experience in foster care, Fia brings her passions for transition-to-adulthood/self-sufficiency support and disability advocacy to NFYI. Through the Congressional Leadership Academy, she hopes to gain experience in local and national advocacy and apply it to making an impact in the child welfare system through a lens of lived experience.

Beyond her advocacy work and education, Fia is a plant lover and enjoys reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her two cats.
