Jazmine Barksdale is a mother and wife who was raised in Northern California and has been an activist for African and African American youth involved in the underground street economy and foster care system since the age of 15. Jazmine currently works at a community-based organization in the Bay Area that deals with youth at the point of arrest. Their passion is working with and for the youth whose voices go unheard. They sat on multiple community boards such as Mayor’s Anti-Human Trafficking Board, Community Advisor Council (Transgender District), and many more. They have filmed and directed a short film called “Beyond Survival.”
The National Foster Youth Institute is a youth development organization that lifts up foster youth voices to transform the child welfare system.
