Desiree “Desi” Lockridge

My name is Desiree Lockridge (I prefer to go by Desi), I’m 24 years old and I am a TAY AmeriCorps Ambassador in Nevada. I have held many roles that I feel are significant throughout my life, with the most important titles of mine being mother, older sister, and wife. In my professional life I have worked since I was 16, in industries from hospitality and customer service, to warehousing and housekeeping. I am currently attending college as a sophomore, majoring in criminal justice. I aspire to obtain my B.A. of Arts so that I can be a vessel to minority families and incarcerated individuals in need of legal support. I am very ambitious and have always attempted to better my community in any way I can. I believe everyone has the capability and potential to become a better version of themselves at any point in life with support, assistance, and motivation. I graduated from high school at 21, then immediately began attending college and I believe it is one of my best accomplishments. I enjoy using my story to inspire and bring hope to other youth within the system who may have come from a background like mine.
