Role: Policy Manager
Background: Kenneth Chancey is the Policy Manager at National Foster Youth Institute and has served the organization since 2019. Formerly serving as a Legislative Deputy to the City of Los Angeles, Kenny comes to the organization with robust knowledge of government functions and policy processes.
Kenny was appointed to serve as the Vice-Chairman of El Segundo’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee where he has worked to improve community and police relations in the South Bay municipality. He works alongside fellow committee members to offer recommendations to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for residents and visitors alike. He has a strong commitment to upholding social justice values both at work, and when he is home.
Why he likes working at NFYI: A former foster youth myself who overcame homelessness, working at NFYI allows me to work diligently to lift the voices of the often-overlooked child welfare population.
Hobbies/Passion: In his spare time, Kenny enjoys long hikes to serene views with waterfalls and canyons. He graduated Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and hopes to one day run for office.
Fun personal fact: Kenny loves art. Whether it’s slab building or throwing on the wheel with clay, or painting with acrylic and watercolor paints, Kenny uses art to destress and as a creative outlet.
