West Coast Organizing Intern
My name is Miles Ray-Burks. I was born in St. Louis, MO although I moved to Los Angeles at the age of 14. I am currently an Organizing Intern for the National Foster Youth Institute. In this capacity, I will be responsible for advancing the organizations mission to lift the voices of other former foster youth.
When alone, I enjoy producing and recording music. My passions include various other art forms as well, such as painting, photography, videography and poetry/spoken word. I have been given several opportunities to share my music with my community. One of those times was at the House of Blues through their Music Forward Program in 2018, and once at the Wiltern for an audience of over 250.
My accomplishments surround my creative endeavors. I have produced a full-length album that has received over 20k streams. Additionally, I produce and sell merchandise in association with my musical brand, and I help to coordinate local music shows that highlight local talent.
Currently I am attending Los Angeles City College (LACC) while pursuing a career as a professional musician and performer. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my cat, and immersing myself in my art.
